2008 angelica cellars syrah
Once poured, a dark ruby color swirls around the bowl and leaves garnet stained legs delicately gliding down the sides of the glass. The nose evokes aromatics of blackberries, baking chocolate and violet petals. After some aeration, this Syrah starts boasting tell-tale white peppercorns and thyme; chocolate covered raspberries make an appearance as well. The palate is rich, yet lifted, and the finish is long and smooth. Only 75 cases were produced. Drink now through 2016.

2007 angelica cellars syrah
Deep crimson tears coat the glass with every swirl... aromatics of crushed black fruit, creme de cassis, and subtle white pepper reach up out of the glass... The attack holds notions of Grandma's Blackberry Preserves and smoke and gently gives way to a rich and complete mid-palate redolent of fresh pomegranate and Godiva chocolates. This full-bodied red manages to keep all of its components elegantly in balance and, with aeration, proudly shows off the vineyard's tell-tale minerality. Drink now through 2014.
